Ms. Hamedani started learning music when she was 6 years old with Orff method under Naser Nazar. At the age of 7, she started taking piano lessons under Seda Karapetian and continued taking lessons all the way until college when she chose music as her career.
She holds a B.A in music from Tehran University with focus on Piano Performance and Persian Folk Instruments. She achieved third place in the first Collegiate Level Piano Competition in Iran and was recognized for her level of dynamics and musicality in the second Collegiate Level Piano Competition. She had the honor of performing several times in the two most famous concert halls in Tehran.
She then continued her education at University of Oregon studying composition with David Crumb and piano performance under Dr. Claire Wachter and Dr. David Riley. She holds a master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Portland State University where she studied under Lisa Marsh and received the Olson piano scholarship for two consecutive years.
Ms. Hamedani is a member of OMTA (Oregon Music Teachers Association) and MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and a certified Suzuki teacher. She began teaching for RCMA (Rose City Music Academy) in the summer of 2011, and teaches at the Catlin Gabel School.
